The Grouse Grind

During part of our vacation last month in BC, I decided to tackle the famous Grouse Grind. It had been years since I faced the gruelling hike that climbs 853 meters of vertical in just 2.9 kilometres of trail. This 2800 ft elevation gain is an amazing experience that pushes you physically and mentally. Once you finish the hike you are rewarded with a birds eye view of Vancouver and the amenities of Grouse Mountain. Here’s some photos and a short video I threw together of Julio’s and my morning trip to the peak of Vancouver. it was not only a great hike, but a great opportunity for me to try out my new GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition! (neither disappointed)

Let me introduce you..

Alright so admittedly it has been awhile since I have posted something. life got busy and with busy comes procrastination. Although I do have one good reason for the delay and that is Mason. Mason was born on January 7th at 12:58PM. He weighed 8 lbs 4oz. As is always the case with the addition of any new child, life has been a whirlwind for the last three weeks! Kristin and I are so very excited and blessed by the safe arrival of our son and it is pure joy watching Madelyn hug him and try to “puppy kiss” (lick) him.

For you family and friends who are supporting us from out of town, here are some “never before seen on the internet” photos of Mason during the first few days of his life.

A Day at the Zoo

Last week we decided to take on Edmonton’s Annual Free Admission Day (#yegFAD)– the one day per year that all of the city’s major attractions are free. I hadn’t been to a zoo since I was a child, and since we have a child  we thought Madelyn may enjoy seeing all of the animals.. we were right. we were even treated to Lucy the elephant up close as she was on a walk with her handlers. Free Admission Day, you rock! Thanks Edmonton.

Robert in New Westminster

While in Vancouver last month I grabbed breakfast and quick photo session with my brother, Robert. I had been thinking about taking photos of him for a while now and I was looking forward to capturing his personality and style. We took a walk down at the New Westminster quay and along the train tracks and I was able to snap some shots that I am proud of.

Hope you enjoy these, Rob.
